A quiet, private reflection companion some clinicians are recommending to clients.
This page is written to be passed clinician-to-clinician. If a colleague sent it to you, they thought Lucca was worth a careful look — here's the honest version, including where it isn't a fit.
- A private journal with memory.
- A way for clients to record sessions and reflect later.
- Help arriving at the next session more prepared.
- A calm presence — never a replacement for you.
- Not therapy or a therapist.
- Not a clinical decision tool.
- Not a chatbot trying to fix the client.
- Not cloud-connected — AI runs on-device.
The part most colleagues want to know first.
Local-only
Recordings, transcripts, and analysis stay on the client's device. Nothing is uploaded.
Encrypted at rest
Stored transcripts are encrypted on-device with AES-256-GCM.
No cloud AI
Analysis runs locally (open models like Qwen3). Sessions are never sent to any AI provider.
Patient-controlled
You see nothing unless the client curates a summary to bring you. Audio is discarded after transcription.
Useful for some clients — not all, and we don't pretend otherwise.
Tends to help:
- Clients who reflect, journal, or process between sessions.
- Work that benefits from continuity — recurring themes, practices, things to notice.
- Stable presentations where private reflection is supportive, not destabilizing.
Where we'd defer to your judgment:
- Acute crisis, recent destabilization, or difficulty with reality testing — likely not the right tool, and you'll know better than we do.
It holds the thread between sessions.
Insight from a session often fades before the next one. When a client can revisit what was said, notice their own patterns, and arrive with their own agenda, the first ten minutes tend to go differently — less re-orienting, more of the real work. Lucca aims to support that continuity without inserting itself into the room or the relationship.
If you're curious, see it for yourself.
Lucca is free for licensed therapists — including a demo mode with sample client data, so you can click through the full experience before recommending it to anyone.
