Common questions

The things people ask most before — and after — they start using Lucca. Can't find what you're looking for? Email hello@meetlucca.com and a real person will write back.

Privacy & your data

No. Your recordings, transcripts, and every AI insight are created and stored on your device. Nothing is sent to the cloud for analysis — that's a hard rule, not a setting you have to find.

The only thing that touches our servers is signing in, which exists purely to grant you access. Your session content never goes with it.

Yes. Transcripts are encrypted at rest on your Mac using AES-256-GCM. You can read more on the security page.

Not unless you choose to share something. Lucca is built for you first. Nothing is shared automatically with a provider or with us.

Lucca transcribes as you go and doesn't keep a permanent audio recording — the transcript is what's saved (encrypted), not the audio.

The AI & the model

Lucca runs an open-source AI model locally, on your Mac. There's no Claude, ChatGPT, or other cloud service in the loop. Lucca picks the right model size for your hardware automatically, so it runs as well as your Mac allows.

That's the AI model itself. Because everything runs on your device, the model lives on your device too. It downloads once, in the background, and then Lucca works entirely offline.

Once the one-time model download finishes, yes. Recording, transcription, and insights all run without a connection.

No. Lucca is a companion that helps you remember and reflect on your sessions — it isn't a therapist, a clinical tool, or a crisis service. If you're in crisis, please reach out to a local emergency line or a trusted professional.

Devices & requirements

A Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) and at least 16 GB of memory, running macOS 13 (Ventura) or later, with about 10 GB of free space for the one-time model. Full steps are in Setting up Lucca.

Not during the private beta — Lucca is Mac-only for now. Windows support is on the roadmap.

Not yet. Lucca is a desktop app today. A mobile companion is something we're exploring.

Recording sessions

Yes — please do. Recording laws vary by where you live, and it's the respectful thing to do. Lucca gently walks you through confirming your therapist knows before you start.

Yes, once the model has finished its one-time download. After that, recording and transcription run entirely on your Mac.

Yes. You can edit transcripts, rename speakers, and delete any session or all of your data from Settings.

Account & billing

Lucca starts with a 30-day free trial. After that, it's a single plan — Gold — at $10/month, with every feature included.

All of your existing data stays accessible, and you can still record. New AI analysis pauses until you subscribe — nothing is deleted, and there's no pressure.

Then please reach out — we never want cost to be the reason someone can't get more from their therapy. Email hello@meetlucca.com and we'll quietly sort out a way forward, often a few months on us. There's no form to fill out and nothing to prove.
